Bird Walks - Guided

What: guided hikes to learn about and identify birds. Along the way you'll learn about local history, ecology and other animals and plants you may encounter.

Where: Anywhere you want in Chemung County. (even if it's just around your home)

Led by: Bill Ostrander
Bill earned a degree in wildlife science at Cornell University in 1975, worked as an educator at Tanglewood Nature Center in Elmira for 14 years, is a consultant for the local Audubon Society and is vice president of the New York State Ornithological Association.

Cost: $25 for a 60- to 90-minute guided hike on weekdays for 1-12 people.The money goes to the Chemung Valley Audubon Society.

When: Year-round, weekdays dawn until 8:30 a.m. and late afternoon until dusk. Night hikes also can be arranged.

Supplied: a pair of binoculars, bird identification field guide and 41 years of birding experience and knowledge.
