Members

The Friends of the Chemung River Watershed, Inc. need your help to fulfill our mission of protecting and promoting the Chemung River and getting folks to better use, enjoy, and respect our beautiful natural resource.

We will do this through guided canoe/kayak trips, river hikes, bike treks, cross-country skiing and riverbank cleanups. We plan to build more boat launches, add and improve trails, and develop riverside education and safe boating programs for all ages.

We will preserve and protect the river's water quality, plant, and wildlife habitat and the scenic beauty that is the Chemung River. As a nonprofit agency, we depend on the generosity of people like you to help us make the most of the river and improve our environment, economy, and your quality of life. So, please help us by making a donation to become a member of River Friends, or help us through volunteering your time to our organization.

We have six levels of support:

  • $30 | Patron
  • $50 | Sustainer
  • $100 | Partner
  • $250 | Conservator
  • $500 | Steward
  • $1000+ | River Friend

You may become a member by donating online using our NetworkForGood donation portal, or by mailing your check and our membership form to Chemung River Friends, 109 North Main Street Elmira, NY 14901. If you are interested in volunteering, please email us at info@chemungriverfriends.org.

Partnerships

Chesapeake Bay Network LogoThe Chemung Basin River Trail Partnership (CBRTP) is a coalition of agencies working together to protect our rivers and make them more accessible to everyone and a part of the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network.

The Partnership formed in 1999 to develop a river trail system in the Chemung Valley and promote protection of the Chemung Basin. The Chemung Basin includes the Cohocton, Canisteo, Cowanesque, Tioga, and Chemung Rivers and various creeks in the area. In 2009, the partnership became part of the Friends of the Chemung River Watershed in Elmira, NY.

However, the CBRTP is part of a larger network throughout the Chesapeake Bay Gateways Network that offers continued support, guidance and collaboration.
