The River Guidebook

It's the only river map and guide you will ever need. And every purchase supports our mission.

This guide is the most complete, informative and handy collection of river maps and paddling information for the Chemung and Susquehanna rivers. It’s a must-have for paddlers and anglers. The booklet features topographic maps of both rivers, boat launches, river history, hazard areas, camping sites, and safety and paddling tips.

Guidebook Open“I have never seen a more complete, informative and useful river guide,” said Friends of the Chemung River co-founder, Jim Pfiffer. “From the novice to the expert paddler, it features all the information you need – from where to rent a kayak, what to wear when paddling and the location of hazardous paddling areas on the rivers. Its compact size lets it easily fit in a backpack, dry-bag or kayak storage areas.”

The spiral-bound, four-color, waterproof and tear-proof booklet is the perfect gift for river paddlers, anglers, hikers, tourists and anyone interested in learning more about our local waterways and how best to use them for recreation and education.

The 116-page, plastic-covered booklet costs $40 and includes photos, drawings, and this useful information:

  • Paddling safety regulations.
  • Location of river dams and pipelines.
  • River facts, river history and how the rivers got their names.
